RECAP: Feast 2017
For more than 25 years, Parkway Partners has hosted Feast with the Stars, a Sunday brunch featuring A-list local celebrities and delectable New Orleans fare.
This year was no different as we launched the strategic re-envisioning of Parkway Partners under Lanette Dumas, our new Executive Director. In spite of needing to delay the festivities a few weeks because of Hurricane Nate’s attempts to make landfall, Feast returned to the New Orleans Board of Trade, the site of Parkway Partners’ inaugural brunch event. Catering was provided by Pigéon Catering and guests enjoyed live music from The Messy Cookers Jazz Band while browsing the silent auction items.
Feast, which is Parkway Partners’ major fundraising event each year, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support tree planting and greenspace education. The event also offers the opportunity to honor community members who work to preserve and expand New Orleans’ green space through the Green Spirit Award. Past recipients of the Award include Margaret Orr, Jackie Clarkson, Michael Karam, Jared Zeller and in 2016, Dr. Bob Thomas.
Our 2017 Green Spirit Award honoree is Dana Nunez Brown.
During her 34 years of experience as a landscape architect and planner, Dana has worked for firms in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Boston, and Orange County, California. Dana worked for EDAW, Inc. and Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc. in California for over 15 years before returning to Louisiana and settling in New Orleans where she now serves as President and Principal of Dana Brown & Associates, Inc. Dana’s work in Louisiana has focused on community planning, ecological design, and public outreach along with leading various Louisiana projects. She has worked tirelessly to inform professionals and citizens about low impact development, stormwater management, and smart growth.
