Richard and Annette Bloch
Cancer Survivors' Plaza
Loyola Avenue, New Orleans

  In 1995, Parkway Partners and
  the City of New Orleans
  developed the Richard and
  Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors'
  Plaza on the Loyola Avenue
  neutral-ground at Poydras St.
  The park was designed by
  Milosav Cekic, Austin TX,
architect and was built by Gootee
  Construction Company.
The Plaza is one of several
 throughout the United States
funded by the Blochs of Kansas
 City, Missouri, for people who
have faced, are facing or will face
 a life-or-death struggle with
 cancer.

Fourteen twenty-five foot tall commemorative columns, represent various
cultures of the world.  The New Orleans column, designed by local artist
Brian Borrello features symbolic references to the city's culture -- brick,
plaster and wrought reminiscent of French Quarter archecture, and a
terminus of golden musical instruments reflects the city's jazz heritage.
  The plaza includes a four-sided
triumphal arch, surrounded on all
sides by a seventy-two foot long
ceramic mural.

The park is landscaped with trees,
   shrubs,and seasonal flowers.
