ReLeaf New Orleans Initiative
Created by Parkway Partners to replace the urban canopy following the
wrath of hurricane Katrina.  Trees are planted in over 32 neighborhoods
and along major corridors.
Second Saturdays Program
A featured expert presents on a key horticultural topic with accompanying
plant or tree sale. Topics are varied relating to vegetables, trees and home
landscapes.
Community Gardens
Conversion of vacant and neglected lots into vegetable or flower gardens,
urban farms or passive green areas.
Schoolyard Gardens
Students are involved in garden-based activities to reinforce Math and
Science curriculum.
Adopt-A-Neutral Ground Program
Citizens volunteer to maintain a favorite section of the neutral grounds to
support the efforts of the Department of Parks and Parkways. Signage
provided.
Parkway Partners works to improve green space for all New
Orleanians as it has for the past 26 years...
Since Katrina's devastation of the city's tree canopy, we have
launched an urgent reforestation campaign called
ReLeaf New Orleans.
